Weidman to host BJJ seminar for Live to Fight charity
UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman, a newly minted brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under John Danaher and Matt Serra, will host a BJJ seminar for the Live To Fight charity of which he is a board member.
The event will be at Renzo Gracie's academy in Manhattan (224 W. 30th St.) on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.
The No Gi BJJ seminar will also include top UFC lightweight Jim Miller, plus other instructors to be announced soon.
Tickets to participate in the charitable event are $90, with that admission helping to raise money and awareness for Live to Fight beneficiaries. Live to Fight ("LTF") is a non-profit organization that through the MMA community seeks to help those fighting cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
Weidman is no stranger to charitable endeavors. Last month, he hosted a fundraiser to help cover the costs of athletics at Baldwin Middle School. Last year, in the days after superstorm Sandy destroyed the first floor of his house, he was helping to organize a food and clothing drive for those in need through St. Peter's Church in his hometown of Baldwin.
