Ryan LaFlare told Newsday that a knee injury forced him to pull out his co-main event bout against Gunnar Nelson at UFC Fight Night 46 in Dublin on July 19.
The UFC announced the fight switch on Wednesday morning but did not indicate the nature of the injury.
LaFlare, co-owner of Long Island MMA in Farmingdale, said he expects to be out for six to nine months.

World Series of Fighting will make its debut on NBC on July 5 as part of the new deal announced Tuesday that extends the broadcast agreement throught 2017.
NBC will maintain exclusive rights to WSOF events, with most of them airing live on NBC Sports Network and featured on NBC's digital platforms.

Along with making the calendar switch to the summer, the fifth annual MMA World Expo at Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan this July will include an amateur MMA tournament.
