Thoughts as they progressed through my brain while watching the first episode of "UFC Primetime: Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks" leading into UFC 167.

— If you recall all past media opportunities, every fight is the greatest challenge Georges St-Pierre has faced in his career.

— Remnants of a shiner on St-Pierre’s right eye.

— GSP thinks about Johny Hendricks when...

Remember when it was supposed to be Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Tito Ortiz on Bellator's pay-per-view debut?

Well, now it's Rampage vs. Joey Beltran on Spike TV in Atlantic City on Nov. 15.

Ortiz pulled out of the Nov. 2 bout late last week with a neck injury, forcing the pay-per-view card to shift to Spike TV with Michael Chandler's rematch against Eddie Alvarez elevated...

Almost two years to the day since Michael Chandler took Eddie Alvarez's Bellator lightweight title, the rematch headlines Bellator 106.

Of course, that Nov. 2 card was supposed to be headlined by Tito Ortiz vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, but Ortiz pulled out with a neck injury last week.

Spike TV aired a half-hour special hyping Chandler vs. Alvarez II last night. Here are...

Al Iaquinta's office life

Al Iaquinta wakes up in the morning and goes to work. Througout the day, he works. At night, he works.

But his job is a bit different. His "business casual" attire is a rash guard and board shorts.

The life of an MMA fighter does indeed have its perks . . . when someone isn't punching them in the face or kicking them in the ribs.

“I cant imagine working a 9-5," the...

Jose Aldo celebrates his unanimous decision victory over

(Credit: AP)

Jose Aldo hasn't lost a fight in eight years and yet the UFC featherweight champion from Brazil gets shown very little love as the best pound-for-pound fighter MMA fighter in the world.

That's because of who's ahead of him. Heck, Aldo even lost out to anyone not already listed as an option.

In our latest Fightin' Words reader poll, Jon Jones took the plurality of votes (a total of 1,835...

UFC Primetime Velasquez-Dos Santos episode 3 recap

(Credit: AP)

The last episode of "UFC Primetime" featuring Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos aired Wednesday night. And in keeping with the tradition started two weeks ago, here's my running take on the episode.   — I hope the reactions shown by Javier Mendez and Daniel Cormier watching the quotes from Junior Dos Santos’ camp were real and not staged for the scene.   — Cormier has...

Cain Velasquez hated life without UFC title

In the second fight, Cain Velasquez became the first fighter in UFC history to connect on more than 100 significant strikes and stick 10 or more takedowns in the same bout.

That says something about the skills of heavyweight champion Velasquez -- but it also shows the ability of Junior Dos Santos to take a punch and keep coming forward for more.

“I wasn't looking for the finish,"...

If you happen to be staying in the same hotel as UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez this week in Houston, please look both ways before merging into the hallway. You just might see 240 pounds of man flying toward you at full steam.

(Not double-checking if the coast is clear would be akin to letting Bald Bull knock out Little Mac with his bull charge in "Mike Tyson's Punch-Out"...

An Octagon arrived on Long Island, and on Saturday, UFC fighters were standing inside it.

If their attire had been different -- topless with board shorts rather than the T-shirts and jeans they did wear -- that would be a significant piece of news.

But, alas, professional mixed martial arts remains illegal in New York for reasons that are less about sports and more about politics.
