Hard to really understand the point of staredowns beyond photo ops and content creation for video players.

By the time Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn step into the cage to fight each other for the third time, more than 50 numbered UFC events will have passed since their last bout. Plus all the fight nights and such in between.
When news broke earlier this week that Edgar and Penn would coach against one another on the next season of "The Ultimate Fighter" and then face off again afterward,...Read more »
Ronda Rousey got a nice surprise Tuesday when taping began for Season 18 of "The Ultimate Fighter" and Miesha Tate showed up instead of Cat Zingano.
Zingano was supposed to be Rousey's opposing coach but tore her ACL earlier this month. So, in steps Tate, Rousey's rival.
This is good. This is bad. Let's explain:
GOOD: TV ratings for TUF 18 on the new Fox Sports 1 will...Read more »
Time for the results of our last Fightin' Words reader poll. As usual, the typical disclaimer: These results are about as scientific as that sock you found under the bed after two years.
Who will have the more successful UFC career?
78% -- Uriah Hall
22% -- Kelvin Gastelum
(Note: This question was posed after Gastelum upset Hall to win Season 17 of "The Ultimate Fighter.")...Read more »
The second women's MMA fight in UFC history came with far less fanfare than the first.
No Ronda Rousey will do that, as will no championship on the line and no need to sell pay-per-views since Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano fought on the Ultimate Finale 17 on FX in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Here’s what Sonnen said to Uriah Hall as he prepared to fight...Read more »
Perhaps the best way to explain what Uriah Hall did to Bubba McDaniel in the "The Ultimate Fighter" quarterfinals that aired Tuesday night is to repeat what McDaniel said in the seconds after he got knocked out.
"What's wrong?," McDaniel said. "What's wrong? Huh? What's wrong? Why is my eye -- -- up? My eye hurts."
Hall, who grew up in Queens after emigrating...Read more »

Next up for the women in the UFC: Miesha Tate vs. Cat Zingano.
Tate, the former Strikeforce women's bantamweight champion, will fight Zingano at TUF 17's "Ultimate Finale" on April 13 in Las Vegas.
This is the second announced women's MMA fight for the UFC, the first being champion Ronda Rousey against Liz Carmouche at UFC 157 on Feb. 23.
