A mixed martial arts blog about UFC, Bellator and other MMA promotions and fighters.
Billed as the biggest fight in UFC history (as many pay-per-view events often are), UFC 168 brought in a gate of $6.2 million, the promotion's third biggest ever.
But, have a look at the ratings for the UFC 168 prelims which aired on Fox Sports 1 -- an average of 1,554,000 viewers for the two-hour block of 8-10 p.m ET on Saturday, Dec. 28.
That's the fifth biggest draw on Fox Sports...Read more »
LAS VEGAS -- As I watch the sun rise up from the mountains in the desert from my hotel room, I'm reminded that it is a new day, which means more time to process all the things seen at UFC 168 several hours ago.
Here are of the thoughts I'm generating at the moment after watching a series of fights that stirred up more than $6.2 million in gate revenue for the UFC:
-- Miesha Tate vs....Read more »
LAS VEGAS -- Some thoughts about what to look for at UFC 168 on Saturday night (besides just the punching and the kicking and the grappling):
-- How does Uriah Hall respond after two losses and that "He's not a fighter" quote by UFC president Dana White from the last time he fought? That should be quite interesting to watch unfold against Chris Leben.

Nothing about a Tim McGraw-Faith Hill ballad suggests mixed martial arts.
It's a pretty country duet performed by pretty country people, for sure, but it sounds a smidge out of place inside the gritty garage-type gym for punching and kicking and people.
Yet, there was "It's Your Love" coming through the sound system at Ray Longo and Chris Weidman's Power MMA in Garden City...Read more »
Here's a little clip of a training session between UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman hitting pads with trainer Ray Longo one night this past week in Garden City.
It was produced by Weintraub Films, which has been documenting Weidman's camp for UFC 168.

Still, new UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman would have preferred a different photo be used in the poster for UFC 168 and his rematch against former champ Anderson Silva.
As for the "Leave No Doubt" tagline used on the poster?
"I like that," Weidman said Wednesday at a UFC 168 promotional...Read more »
On the off chance you haven't heard Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman answer these questions of late, here's one more chance.
Weidman, the reigning UFC middleweight champion, and Silva, the former champion, spent Thursday at ESPN doing a media blitz.

In the span of eight days beginning Sept. 23, Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva will visit seven cities across the United States and Brazil to promote their rematch at UFC 168 in Las Vegas on Dec. 28.
Presumably, they will be asked many of the same questions in each city and offer the same answers. Expect quite a few of them to be about UFC 162 when Weidman upset Silva to win the middleweight...Read more »
The word war between Ronda Rousey and Miesha continued Tuesday night with this clip from "UFC Tonight."
Expect the mud to be slung and the muck to be raked plenty war as this season of "The Ultimate Fighter" plays out on Fox Sports 1 leading up to their bout at UFC 168 on Dec. 28.
In the clip embedded below, Tate fires back.
