Long Island's Chris Weidman, the reigning UFC middleweight champion, added one more piece of hardware to his new home in Dix Hills.

I came across a pretty cool portrait photo of UFC middleweight Costas Philippou over the weekend by Rick Wenner. Turns out there's more to it than just a nice photo. It's part of a series of portraits done by Wenner, who wanted to show his support for legalizing mixed martial arts in New York. "My concept was to photograph as many MMA fighters and show a different side of who these people...Read more »
The matchup of Ronda Rousey, an Olympic judo bronze medalist, against Sara McMann, an Olympic wrestling silver medalist, is intriguing on a number of levels. Once the most glamorous division in the world's most prominent mixed martial arts promotion, the UFC's light heavyweight division lacks depth. Part of that can be attributed to the normal ebb and flow of fighters (and sports in general), as well as the expansion of other weight classes. Also, don't underestimate the dominance...Read more »
