Anderson Silva: 'Sometimes I'm funny'

OK, sure, there was a much juicier quote from this Anderson Silva video clip below, but I didn't want to be accused of going for shock value and cheap clicks. (At least not today, that is.) Besides, you can see it right there in the embedded video.
Silva, the UFC middleweight champion and pound-for-pound greatest MMA fighter, may have missed a media obligation last week in Los Angeles for...

Chael Sonnen talks how he needs to talk when it’s time to talk.
Meaning, if it’s time to hype a fight, he’ll go to town with the commentary, wit and hyperbole needed to sell tickets and pay-per-view. If it’s time to chill, he can be chill.
And if it’s time to build up a fighter’s confidence, Sonnen can do that as well.
Here’s what Sonnen said to Uriah Hall as he prepared to fight...

Michael Bisping has done his share of bashing Long Island's Chris Weidman in the public sphere when there's a camera available.
Well, here's a video where Bisping actually says nice/positive things about Weidman's chances against middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 162 in July.

I happened to be looking at Anderson Silva's fight record Tuesday morning for a refresher on his various win streaks.
I've seen that loss -- you know, the one to Ryo Chonan on Dec. 31, 2004 -- before, but every time I see it, I'm amazed. Some times, I think it's a typo. Some times, I wonder why Chonan isn't tweeting every day "I beat Anderson Silva."
And some times, the shock...

In a back-and-forth battle that is all words and nothing else between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman, it's the UFC middleweight champion's turn.
On the latest edition of "UFC Tonight," Silva spoke to Fuel TV's Karyn Bryant from his new Muay Thai College. The video is embedded below, but here are the three key points from Silva:
"The people talk, blah, blah, blah, blah."
"He's...

Michael Bisping never runs short on words to say. And when the UFC middleweight from England uses his words talk about Long Island's Chris Weidman, they're usually not nice ones.
A report surfaced late this week from Brazilian publication Tatame that the UFC is negotiating with Anderson Silva to defend his title against Weidman in July.
When asked Friday about that, Bisping said Weidman...

UFC president Dana White says it's possible Long Island native Chris Weidman will be the next fighter to challenge Anderson Silva for his UFC middleweight title.
(Of course, he also said that Silva's next fight would be against Georges St-Pierre, and said the same thing about Jon Jones as well, so take this for what it's worth.)
“That fight’s closer and more possible than people think,"...

Fans have been clamoring for Anderson Silva vs. Georges St-Pierre for at least two years now. Sometimes, it appears close, and sometimes GSP fights Nick Diaz and Silva fights Stephan Bonnar.
The stirring about for a Silva-Jon Jones fight is a little newer.
Still, UFC president Dana White continues to say middleweight champion Silva will fight both the welterweight champion GSP and light...

If Michael Bisping beats Vitor Belfort at UFC on FX 7 this weekend in Brazil, he gets the next title shot against middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
That's what UFC president Dana White has said publicly on several occasions. (Of course, that doesn't always mean much, just ask Anthony Pettis.)
Beating Belfort isn't easy. No one is saying it is (except for maybe Bisping, but that's...

The latest round of public commentary coming from Michael Bisping underscores the issue facing the next UFC middleweight champion, whoever that may be: if that person doesn't beat Anderson Silva, he'll never have the respect that comes with being a champion. Bisping tweeted the day before Thanksgiving that he thinks his Jan. 19, 2013, fight against Vitor Belfort at UFC on FX should be for the interim...
