New York Fight Exchance will host its first amateur MMA event on Friday (Oct. 4) at the Amazura Concert Hall in Jamaica, Queens.
Nine Long Islanders will be featured on the card, which is sanctioned by the WKA. NYFE's Facebook page says the event includes "full ground and pound" rules.

Last week, Wantagh's Al Iaquinta was tabbed to replace the injured Paul Taylor in a fight against Anthony Njokuani scheduled for UFC Fight Night 30 in Manchester, England, next month.
This week, it is Njokuani who had to pull out of the fight with an injury.

In the span of eight days beginning Sept. 23, Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva will visit seven cities across the United States and Brazil to promote their rematch at UFC 168 in Las Vegas on Dec. 28.

Andrew Leone, a Center Moriches native, was forced to pull out of his shot at the One FC flyweight title three days shy of the fight because of a knee injury.
Leone tweeted Wednesday that he has a slight tear of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his knee.
