Long Island's Dennis Bermudez and Oklahoma's Matt Grice put on a thrilling fight Saturday at UFC 157 -- an instant candidate for every "Fight of the Year" Top 10 list that will surface in mid-December.

They each earned Fight of the Night honors and an accompanying $50,000 on top of their show money, and in Bermudez's case, win money, too.

Question: How did Josh Neer make it to the second round, let alone the third round?

Answer: Because Court McGee did not attack the right side of Neer after a left kick caused Neer to visibly express the pain and anguish it caused.  Neer backed away and obviously protected that damaged right side. McGee did throw another two shots that landed and sent Neer crumpling to the ground. Then,...

Robbie Lawler had little time to mount an offense against Josh Koscheck at UFC 157. But, he did make the most of it.

Being outgrappled by Koscheck for the first three-plus minutes of their welterweight bout, Lawler managed to get on top with about 1:20 left.

The grounded Koscheck was pinned up against the cage and Lawler, making his UFC return, landed a big left. That shot stunned Koscheck,...

A guy nicknamed "Hands of Stone" using wrestling? An armbar submission attempt?

An interesting development for Sam Stout, a fighter who has spent 90 percent of his MMA career on his feet striking (according to Fight Metric).

But Stout's lightweight bout against Caros Fodor at UFC 157 on Saturday still came down to -- shocker! -- striking. Stout won a split decision over Fodor,...

But the former WEC champion made an appearance Friday at the UFC weigh-ins and the interview room.

Here it is.

Ronda Rousey became the first female to sign a contract with the UFC and was installed as the women's bantamweight champion, a title she won and defended once in Strikeforce before the promotion folded.

For all the accolades she has earned, and the press that has been heaped on her, there is also basic math to understand: She's No. 2 in another category.

The first female fighter to enter...

The math of it all may wind up being polydactyly now, but please forgive that for the sake of the metaphor here.

Besides, when Ronda Rousey was posed with this question, Sara McCann and Alexis Davis had not yet been announced as UFC female fighters number five and six.

The question posed Monday centered around being the only female fight booked for UFC 157, where Rousey will defend her...
