Although not definite, the light heavyweight bout will likely be part of the main card on Showtime, which is headlined by Gilbert Melendez's lightweight title defense against Pat Healy. Strikeforce officials confirmed the bout.
This is the sixth and last fight on Villante's original Strikeforce contract. Villante said he has agreed to a new four-fight contract (including the Sept. 29 bout) that will keep him Strikeforce for at least another year. The paperwork has not officially been signed yet, though.
The former All-American wrestler at MacArthur High School is 3-2 in Strikeforce, including three straight wins. It's a nice turnaround from the start of his big-promotion career where he lost by TKO to Chad Griggs and by decision to Lorenz Larkin.
Inocente is 6-0 with five finishes. His one decision came in his Strikeforce debut in May against Virgil Zwicker.
