New Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni said in a story posted on Wednesday by ESPNLA.com that he regrets having left Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns for the Knicks in 2008.
“I shouldn’t have gone to New York,” D’Antoni said. “I should have stuck in there and battled. You don’t get to coach somebody like [Nash] too many times. It’s pretty sacred and you need to take care of it. I didn’t.”

Jason Kidd didn’t make the trip to Milwaukee.
The lower back spasms that kept him out of Monday’s overtime loss to the Nets will keep him out of tomorrow’s game against the Bucks. The Knicks are listing him as day-to-day.
Ronnie Brewer, however, is expected to play.
Brewer dislocated his left ring finger in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter against the Nets. It’s his non-shooting...

Mike Woodson clearly didn’t want to talk about Jeremy Lin anymore about 90 minutes before tonight’s game.
He was asked whether he thought Lin would have fit in his system.
“He’s not in our system,” Woodson said. “We’ve got Raymond and Kidd and Pablo. That’s the way it’s going to be for a while.”
Woodson then was asked if he had every seen anything like what happened during the...

HOUSTON -- Mike Woodson addressed the Knicks’ decision not to match Jeremy Lin’s contract offer from the Rockets for the first time Friday, and said it wasn’t a hard call.
“That’s a business decision,” Woodson said after the morning shootaround. “I don’t think it was difficult. We just decided to go in a different direction, based on the guys I thought I liked in terms of Raymond [Felton],...

The Knicks aren’t practicing today, but the Rockets had a quick session at their facility in Houston, where Jeremy Lin said all the right things.
You would expect that because Lin handled himself as well as if not better than anyone could in front of cameras, microphones and tape recorders during everything he experienced last season.
Things are different now. There’s less hoopla - much...

Mike Woodson wouldn’t address whether Amar’e Stoudemire will start when he returns from knee surgery. But he said he’s still believes he can make Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony click.
The Knicks’ regular-season record when Anthony and Stoudemire play together is 30-33. They’re 8-2 under Woodson. That gives him the confidence he can make it work.
“Is it an overall losing record with me...

Jason Kidd had a bandage on the right side of his head, where he needed seven stitches to close a cut from Lance Stephenson’s teeth in Sunday's 88-76 win over the Pacers.
You read that right.
Kidd made a patented pump-fake on the perimeter that got Stephenson into the air and he hit the Knicks point guard. We’ll let Kidd describe what happened.
“It was just a pump fake and he left...

The Knicks are apparently looking forward to the March 27 game against the Grizzlies and looking for some kind of payback.
Last night’s 105-95 Grizzlies' win was a physical contest that really had a playoff atmosphere.
“Hats off to the Grizzlies,” Rasheed Wallace said. “But one thing that we’re saying: they’ve got to come to the Garden.”
In the second quarter J.R. Smith elbowed...

Mike Woodson said he plans to start the same way tomorrow when the Knicks play the West-best Spurs. Woodson called the game “a big test.” It probably is the Knicks’ biggest challenge thus far.
The Heat didn’t pose much of a threat in the first game of the season. The Knicks also had some extra emotion playing the first game in New York after Superstorm Sandy. But the next four games were against...
