UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre left MMA fans in the lurch in the moments after his split-decision win at UFC 167 last month.

After he won a split decision over Johny Hendricks, St-Pierre said he was stepping away from the sport for a while. He didn't say he was retiring.

This Friday, perhaps we'll get the answer. He'll be doing an appearance in Montreal, UFC president Dana White said Wednesday, not a full-fledged press event at Tristar Gym.

“This thing was planned for months," White told UFC Central in Canada. "He’s going up to the opening of a mall, and he’s signing autographs for fans, and he’s going to do 10 minutes with the media. People are talking about he called a press conference and other things."

“I’m not saying he might not have something to say in these 10 minutes," White said. "He might. But it’s no crazy announcement like everybody was saying earlier.”
