Some MMA numbers to go with Gov. Cuomo's words

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo was quiet on the bill to legalize MMA in New York until earlier this year.

And on Tuesday in Albany, the governor spoke publicly again about becoming the 49th state to legalize the sport. He told the Capitol Pressroom radio program that if state lawmakers continue to promise "significant economic advancement," then they should take MMA "seriously."

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said Tuesday that he has no personal objection to the sport of mixed martial arts and that he wants to see exactly how much of an economic impact it could have if the ban were lifted.

"I don't have a feeling toward the sport that would say that sport should not happen in this state," Gov. Cuomo said Tuesday.
