Each week leading up to the All-Star Game at Citi Field we’ll compile our list of who SHOULD start the game based on current performance (click the player's name to see their full stats). Feel free to leave a comment and tell us what you think:
1B – Chris Davis, Orioles
Davis is no one-week wonder. After a torrid start to the season, he’s kept up the hot hitting,...Read more »
With the Subway Series nearly upon us, we decided to take a look at the Yankees and Mets lineups – but with a twist. Instead of strict “player vs. player” breakdowns, we went through the lineup by composite defensive position and batting order.
Some of the results may surprise.
Our main tool for comparison was on-base plus slugging percentage. Good hitters generally post an OPS over...Read more »
The cost of going to a Mets or Yankees game is what it is nowadays, but the price on the secondary market for Mets vs. Yankees is changing. And it's changing in favor of the fan. Well, sort of. Subway Series tickets on the secondary market are still above face value, but they're cheaper this year than they have been in the past four season.
The combined average price for the four-game Subway...Read more »
“Another endorsement from the manager, another disappointing day for Ike Davis. The first baseman knows the deal, and whatever management may say, Davis knows he has to hit to stay with the team.”
The above description of a struggling Davis wasn’t written yesterday, last week or last month. Newsday’s Steven Marcus wrote that lede for an article on the Mets’ first baseman June 4, 2012 – nearly...Read more »
The hunt for a spot at the All-Star Game isn’t limited just to baseball players.

ST. LOUIS -- Mets manager Terry Collins is getting hammered on sports talk radio today, which is predictable since he ventured into choppy waters by invoking fans in his defense of the way he's handled the Jordany Valdespin situation.

ST. LOUIS -- Top prospect Zack Wheeler has been pitching with soreness in his collarbone over his past few starts. However, his agent on Tuesday described the decision to have the pitcher examined in New York as "totally precautionary."
"Been more of an annoyance than anything else for the last couple of starts," said Al Goetz, Wheeler's agent. "He could have continued...Read more »
The last Mets pitcher to burst onto the scene with the success and exposure that Matt Harvey is experiencing right now has been keeping an eye on the young star. And he's become a quick fan.
Dwight Gooden, appearing at the annual BTIG Commissions for Charity Day, said he has enjoyed watching Harvey in his nascent career. And you don't have to be a doctor of psychology -- or Ks -- to figure...Read more »
Here’s the first thing Mets fans need to know about the job General Manager Sandy Alderson has done over the last three seasons in Flushing: he’s acquired Zack Wheeler and Travis d’Arnaud, stud prospects kept from the major league roster by service time considerations and a freak injury, respectively.
The second thing is – wait, you still need a second thing?
Alderson has taken a lot...Read more »
The Mets added some power to their slumping lineup by signing outfielder Rick Ankiel to a major league deal.
The pitcher-turned-outfielder is a streaky hitter who strikes out a lot, but is also a legitimate home run threat. The Astros designated Ankiel for assignment last week after hitting .194 with five home runs. He’s a .243 career batter with 74 home runs in 11 seasons.
Ankiel is...Read more »
