On its face, in the "What's it to me now?" world we live in, the Randy Couture-Mark Coleman main event at UFC 109 isn't a showstopper.

But when you take a few minutes to think about the historic nature of the bout, albeit quite a few years after we all really wanted to see it, it's a pretty interesting bout.

The rest of the pay-per-view card for UFC 109 has some decent names that may or may not produce great bouts (you never know what will happen, even with big names). But maybe folks aren't too sure how strong the PPV buys will be for these other bouts:

Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen
Mike Swick vs. Paulo Thiago
Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller
Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg

Maybe that's why Spike announced Tuesday that it will be airing two UFC 109 prelims live at 9 p.m. EDT. Or maybe that's not why. Spike has aired live prelims four times before, and really, are we going to object to free fisticuffs?

But business is business, and if Mac Danzig vs. Justin Buchholz and Melvin Guillard vs. Ronys Torres can generate a few extra PPV buys, then everyone wins.

Plus, if those fights end quickly, we might even get ourselves an extra free fight or two. Anyone interested in Rolles Gracie vs, Mostapha Al Turk or Phillipe Nover vs. Rob Emerson?
