No compensatory draft picks for Jets
The Jets received no compensatory picks for next month’s draft.
In all, 32 were awarded to NFL teams. The Falcons and the Ravens tied for the league-high this year with four apiece.
According to the league, compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula.
A team losing more, or better, compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.
The Dolphins received two picks, while the Patriots and Bills received none. The Giants and the Colts each got a compensatory pick even though they didn’t have a net loss in free agency last year because the free agents they lost were ranked higher than ones signed the previous year.
