attended SUNY Cortland, and graduated from Hofstra University in 1959. As the

former Mrs. Romano, she taught at School Street School, Lindenhurst, NY;

Atlantic

Avenue and West End Schools in Lynbrook, NY; and Waverly Park School in Hewlett,

NY. An active member of New York State United Teachers, Gloria served as the

secretary of the local union for 20 years. She retired to Wilbur-bythe-Sea, Fl

in 1993

and became an active member and secretary of the Teacher Retirees in Florida,.

Secretary of the Ponce Inlet Lions Club and the Wilbur Club, and was a involved

with

the Conklin Center for the Blind. She was a of the Perpetual Adoration Society

and a

Eucharistic minister at the Church of the Epiphany. Gloria is survived by her

beloved

grandchildren Danika and Hunter Plotkin; daughters, Linda Von Tobel and Susan A.

Romano; her sisters Marilyn Dobbins and Margaret Kilburn; sons-in-law Fred Von

Tobel and Laurence Plotkin; brothers-in-law Bobby Dobbins and Howard Kilburn;

niece Diana Sims; nephew William Dobbins; grandnieces Jennifer and Julie Sims,
