If Derek Jeter approaches 200 hits next season, CC Sabathia believes the Yankees will have a pretty good shot at winning the AL East.

“That’s huge. That puts us right at the top of the division,” Sabathia said Tuesday afternoon before he hosted a holiday party for 52 youngsters from the Madison Square Boys and Girls Columbus Clubhouse at the MLB Fan Cave in Manhattan.

Sabathia added that he recently spoke with Jeter, 39, who played in only 17 games last season because of issues related to his left ankle and calf.

“I know he’s working hard, and it’s not rehab stuff. It’s actually getting ready for baseball season,” Sabathia said. “I know he’s excited about that and it’s a different offseason for him. I expect for him to be healthy and to be the same old Derek Jeter.”
