Orioles reserve outfielder Endy Chavez was always quick with a smile when he played for the Mets.

And Mets fans can’t help but smile when they think of Chavez’s leaping grab to rob Scott Rolen of a two-run home run in Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS at Shea Stadium, aka “The Catch.” Even if the Mets went on to lose the game and series.

“I hear about that a lot,” Chavez said. “No matter who I’m playing for. Every time I’m in New York as a visitor, everybody’s talking about it. They say they were at the game, that’s the best catch they’ve seen and stuff like that. They appreciate it.”
