Life on Long Island
Disco show at Aura in East Meadow
Anyone who’s been currently cutting loose on dance floors can tell you – the beats are as fast and furious as ever.
Dubstep, electro and progressive house are the usual subgenres today’s DJs choose to spin, with most of that music previously whipped up by a producer in a studio. But if you like your jams performed live, in classic style, Aura in East Meadow has a bash rolling out on Friday, July 19 that might fulfill your needs for a night.
Starting at 8 p.m. (following Aura’s very popular happy hour) the spot will host a performance by disco legend France Joli (“Come To Me,” “Don’t Stop Dancing,” “Feel Like Dancing”), which will then be followed by a set from boogie cover band Disco Unlimited at 9 p.m. In addition, Aura has a top-line sound and lighting system, as well as a large dance floor and the venerable DJ Jenny Costa in-place to mix all night, so those seeking to hustle should have no problem making that happen.
The full cover charge has yet to be announced, but Facebook friends of the Classic Events promotion group only pay $10 at the door; be sure to like facebook.com/OurClassicEvents and then mention “Facebook” upon entry to pay that discounted fee.
