According to this year’s AAA “Thanksgiving Travel Forecast” (aaa.com), 43.4 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the days that constitute the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

DJ Danny Avila, although not an American, will also be making such a trip -- and in doing so surpassing that 50 mile data point by about 3,500 miles -- by appearing at LOVE in Carle Place on Thanksgiving.

When it comes to a business reaching 100 years old, it usually garners a good deal of attention. And in 2012 Shine’s Bar in Long Beach reached that significant century mark. Unfortunately, one of the worst tragedies to ever strike Long Island pre-empted any plans of celebration.

Shine’s has always been a pub primarily populated by locals. Located on the corner of West Beech and California...

When spending an evening out to dine, to catch a show or to dance until the early morning hours, music is almost always a constant part of these late-night scenarios.

Some spots pipe in canned playlists or fire up a jukebox for guests, while other venues feature live acts or DJs – and on Long Island, the sort of tunes heard can be wide in range -- with pop, jazz, hip-hop, country, rock and...
