Raw on LI, wrestling on LI this weekend, wrestling school special, meet WWE stars, PPV tonight

I wanted to drop in with an update on a few big wrestling events going in over the next couple days:

. WWE Monday Night Raw is coming to the Nassau Coliseum right here on LI this Monday, November 1. Tickets start at $34 and are available through Ticketmaster. I hope to see some of you there.

. Tomorrow, Saturday October 30, Ringside Collectibles is holding a big autograph signing, Q&A and collectible sale in Times Square. Ringside Fest 2010 will feature appearances by Chris Jericho, The Miz and WWE world heavyweight champ Kane. The event, being held at Caroline’s on Broadway (1626 Broadway between 49th and 50th Streets) begins at 9 a.m. For tickets and information visit ringsidefest.com or call (866) 993-3448, ext 4.

Also tomorrow, the New York Wrestling Connection returns to the NYWC Sportatorium at 435-13 Brook Avenue in Deer Park for “House of Madness.” The show will feature TNA’s Robbie E, former ECW champ Mikey Whipwreck, and an “I’m Sorry” match between NYWC Champion “Yours Truly” Alex Reynolds and Maxwell Belvedere. Doors open at 6 and bell time is at 7. For ticket info, call (631) 667-NYWC or visit nywcwrestling.com.

Another important note regarding the NYWC that may be of special interest to anyone interested in becoming a wrestler. The NYWC’s training facility, which has produced such graduates as Zack Ryder, Curt Hawkins, the Dude Busters, and former Spirit Squad member Mike Mondo, is offering a special to new students: For a limited time, you can get a full year of training for $1,000. If you’re interested, go here. The NYWC is quickly earning a reputation as one of the best training grounds for wrestlers in the area, and this may be a good opportunity for anyone who has dreamed of stepping in the ring.

Lastly, those of you looking for something truly different than the wrestling you are used to getting from WWE and TNA might want to check out Dragon Gate USA’s first live Internet pay per view tonight, “Bushido: Code of the Warrior.” The show is being streamed live on Gofightlive.TV. If you’ve never heard of DGUSA, it’s a promotion run by former Ring of Honor booker Gabe Sapolsky that features a lot of stars from the Japanese Dragon Gate promotion, as well as top American independent talent. It’s earned the reputation for having some of the most amazing athleticism of any wrestling promotion in the U.S. Definitely worth a look.
