Their wrestling styles may be as different as they come, but Christopher Daniels belives he and Hulk Hogan are “kindred spirits.”

“I think the thing that people should understand about Hulk Hogan and myself is that we both sort of played the best hand with the cards we were dealt,” Daniels said. “We took what we have as wrestlers, physically and our mindset and we made the best...

Why it's too late for TNA to turn things around

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling President Dixie Carter has

(Credit: TNA Wrestling)

In April, 2010, I wrote the following in a blog post here in the Steel Cage:

“For my money Total Nonstop Action is, indeed, totaled – as in broken beyond repair.”

I went on to write that, no matter how much TNA worked to reverse its course, it was simply too late. After years of offering up one of the worst nationally televised wrestling products fans had ever seen, the damage had been...

Hulkamania is running wild on the Mets in spring training.

Yesterday, Mets relief pitcher Tim Byrdak crashed practice at spring training dressed as wrestling icon Hulk Hogan circa 1980s. The lefty was dressed in yellow boots and red underwear topped off with the trademark feather boa and Hogan's signature red bandanna. Byrdak even bleached his mustache earlier this week in preparation for...

WWE is going out of its way to bill this year’s WrestleMania main event as the biggest match in wrestling history. Considering the legacies of the Rock and John Cena—and the fact that the Rock has not competed in a singles match in nine years, calling the bout “epic” is not an understatement.

But Cena-Rock has some stiff competition for the title of “biggest” WrestleMania match ever. Here’s...

What I dig and what I'd dump in today's wrestling

AMERICAN IDOL: Hulk Hogan visits AMERICAN IDOL airing

(Credit: Fox)

I’d like to start a new regular feature here in the Steel Cage: The Dig and Dump List. Simply put, it will be a (hopefully) weekly list of what I’m digging from the current wrestling scene, and what I would dump. Let’s get underway: Dig:

   1. Mark Henry: Simply put, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion is the best thing going in WWE right now. His intimidating,...

On "Raw" this past Monday night, the show opened with a picture of  “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Many in the crowd had “Oooooh yea” signs, and I even saw some colorful cowboy hats and outlandish sunglasses. All signatures of the legendary career Savage had.

The telecast also featured a very nice tribute video to Savage with some of his top moments in the...

LI's Mick Foley will mow your lawn

The thought of having a professional wrestler mow your lawn might seem like an outrageous idea. But when it comes to Long Island native Mick Foley, no idea is too crazy for him.

Remember, this is the man who wrestled with a sock on his hand, had three of the wildest characters (Cactus Jack, Dude Love and Mankind) and was the biggest risk taker when it came to pushing his body to the limit.

Foley’s...

Can The Rock leave Wrestlemania as the WWE champion?

Actor and WWE supestar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

(Credit: AP )

Here are some final thoughts with just under 10 hours to go before show time.

*I have read a lot of different scenarios for what could happen at the conclusion of the WWE Title match between John Cena and The Miz. Even our own Alfonso Castillo touched on it briefly in his prediction for the match: Is it possible The Rock could leave Wrestlemania as the champion? Never say never is wrestling.
