Adam Ohriner, a 2004 Mepham High School graduate, will make his in-ring national television debut tonight on Spike TV’s “Impact Wrestling,” starting at 9 p.m.
His appearance, which was taped last week in Peoria, Ill., is part of a “TNA Gut Check” search to find new talent for the company. The match was a tryout, and Ohriner will find out soon if he will be offered a TNA contract.

TNA Wrestling yesterday delivered the news that it was reducing the number of its live Sunday night pay per views from 12 to just four a year. And while likely driven by financial realities, TNA nevertheless deserves credit for embracing a lost art in the pro wrestling business: leaving fans wanting more.

Both WWE and TNA today made blockbuster announcements regarding the future of their flagship television programs. WWE dropped the bombshell that Monday Night Raw will expand to three hours beginning with its forthcoming 1,000th episode in July. And TNA revealed plans to air Impact Wrestling live on Thursday nights this summer.

Yesterday, Mets relief pitcher Tim Byrdak crashed practice at spring training dressed as wrestling icon Hulk Hogan circa 1980s. The lefty was dressed in yellow boots and red underwear topped off with the trademark feather boa and Hogan's signature red bandanna. Giants running back Brandon Jacobs is trading in his shoulder pads for wrestling boots.
Jacobs will appear on "TNA Impact Wrestling" this Thursday on Spike TV at 9 p.m. (EST). The appearance was originally filmed this past Monday in Orlando. Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul was first offered the role but pulled out.
