Wimbledon runner-up Tomas Berdych lost to Michael Llodra of France today, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, 6-4, on the Grandstand court.

Berdych, seeded No. 7, is the highest ranked men's player to lose thus far in this year's Open.

Berdych lost in the second round of this year's Australian Open, but made it to the semifinals of the French Open and then lost in the Wimbledon final.

This is Llodra's seventh appearance as a singles player in the Open. His best finish was 2004 when he lost in the fourth round.
