Start spreading the news, New York, New Jersey and MetLife Stadium will host Wrestlemania 29 on April 7, 2013.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, along with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon made the announcement at MetLife Stadium today.

“We are excited to be hosting WrestleMania XXIX in the great state of New Jersey,” said Christie. “Having WWE’s preeminent international event here will strengthen both the regional and local economies and continue to showcase MetLife Stadium as a world-class venue for sports and entertainment. Fans will travel from around the world to enjoy and participate in the WWE’s biggest event of the year," he said.

“WWE would like to thank Governor Christie, the New York Jets, the New York Giants and NYC & Company for rolling out the red carpet to host WWE’s biggest event of the year,” said McMahon.

Former WWE champion turned actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson let it be known to those in attendance that he plans to be at Wrestlemania 29.

The Rock and John Cena are scheduled to fight at the main event in this year's Wrestlemania in Miami on April 1.

Jets owner Woody Johnson was at the presser along with Giants owner John Mara.

“WrestleMania has long been considered one of the most successful sports entertainment events in the world,” said Mara.

Others on hand for the big announcement included Giants' players David Diehl and Zak DeOssie. Matt Slauson and Kyle Wilson represented the Jets.

The WWE released the logo last night on Twitter. Even though the actual event will take place in New Jersey, the logo pays homage to New York City, the unofficial home of the company. The WWE's headquarters is located in Stamford.

Wrestlemania brings a week's worth of events to the hosting city and an economic jolt. Events that are already scheduled for next year's Wrestlemania are the annual Hall of Fame ceremony, WrestleMania Axxess (an interactive fan experience), "Monday Night Raw," and a Make-A-Wish Pizza Party hosted by Cena.

More than 71,00 fans from 50 states and 30 countries attended WrestleMania 27 on April 3, 2011 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. A recent study conducted by Enigma Research Corporation revealed WrestleMania 27 generated $62.1 million in economic impact for Atlanta.

Known as the Super Bowl of sports entertainment, Wrestlemania drew 72,219 fans at University of Phoenix Stadium in 2010; 72,744 to Houston's Reliant Stadium in 2009; 74,635 to the Citrus Bowl in 2008 and 80,103 to Ford Field in 2007.

This is the fifth time Wrestlemania has been in the New York metro area. Madison Square Garden hosted the event in 1985, 1994 and 2004. One-third of Wrestlemania II in 1986 was at the Nassau Coliseum.

MetLife Stadium can hold more than 82,000 fans and will host Super Bowl XLVIII on Feb. 2, 2014.
