On Saturday, May 31, 2008, Kayla a 12 year old girl from Queens, partnered with the Queens Boro Hill Post 3427 Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and DJ Star of Chub Entertainment to host a dance party event to raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Metro New York.

Kayla had initially contacted the foundation and submitted an event proposal which was approved. She subsequently scheduled meetings with a representative from the VFW, and DJ Star to discuss her proposal. Both whole heartedly agreed to participate in the event free of charge.

Flyers promoting the event were distributed and approximately 60 pre-teen/teens attended. Many attend the local Highland School and Studio E Dance School, where Kayla spends most of her time. A minimum donation of $10 each was paid at the door and each guest received a raffle ticket. In between hours of dancing, raffle tickets were drawn and various prizes won. The prizes had been donated by local businesses including Studio E, Gem Story of Forest Hills, Lulu's clothing boutique, Midway Movie theater of Forest Hills, and the president of garbege clothing line. DJ Star also donated a free DJ party as a raffle prize. The children cooled off with ice water throughout the evening, thanks to Super Sol, Met Food of Electchester and Kissena Beverage.

By the end of the evening, $705 had been raised for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York. The event can best be described as a huge success as the children had so much fun for a great cause!
