The utility companies are working to restore power to customers.

EDISON - Utility crews are busy and some commuters will face delays after severe thunderstorms rolled through New Jersey, downing trees and knocking out power. 

Public Service Electric and Gas Company was reporting several thousand customers without electricity after the storms brought down trees and power lines. The majority were in Burlington, Camden, and Mercer counties.

The utility expected full power restoration by late Wednesday. 

Jersey Central Power and Light also reported a few thousand customers were without power. The majority were in Monmouth County.
