A nearly half-mile stretch of Strawtown Road in West Nyack has been reopened after a morning accident involving a truck that hit a utility poll was cleared, police said.
The driver, an employee of United Water Co., lost control of the company truck about 7:45 a.m. and hit a utility pole in the vicinity of the West Nyack firehouse, according to Clarkstown Police Officer Kieran Dwyer.
The driver was not injured, and no tickets were issued, Dwyer said, but Strawtown Road (County Route 23) was closed between Demarest Avenue and West Nyack Road.
An Orange & Rockland Utilities crew remained on the scene until Thursday evening. The street was reopened around 6 p.m.
There were no power outages as a result of the accident.
