WOODBURY - Suffolk residents got a chance to give their ideas tonight about how the county could improve its storm response following Hurricane Sandy.

The meeting, hosted by Suffolk Leg. Wayne Horsley’s Public Safety and Economic Development Committee, gave the county a chance to gauge the public’s view on how the county helped residents.

“We wanted to get together early on and start an assessment and find out what went right and what went wrong and how we can handle this better and how we can prepare better,” said Horsley.

Residents praised the county in some areas, especially in its support for affected communities. Others, however, said the county has work to do when it comes to advance planning and communication.

The county is planning on holding another meeting in the near future to address further concerns.
