Bare isn't for every bride, whether for religious reasons or just the desire to leave something to the imagination. Modesty is in this season, as bridal designers are recognizing those needs and offering chic gown styles with long sleeves and coverups.

According to designer Scott Corridan of the White Chocolate Label, "More brides are choosing to honor their faith and their fashion sensibility."

Reem Acra's light-as-air chiffon pleated gown and Claire Pettibone's rock and roll-inspired lace gown combine high style with maximum coverage.

Kleinfeld in Manhattan is seeing a rise in requests for modest gowns and has a dedicated consultant, Rochel Leah Katz, who guides brides through the process of "building up" a designer gown to make it temple- or church-ready. Depending on religious requirements, a gown can be flawlessly reconstructed by raising the neckline and adding sleeves, all while maintaining the original design.

If flexibility is more your style, cover up with a pretty jacket from Adele Wechsler or Sassi Holford during the ceremony, then remove it to reveal a stunning strapless gown when you glide onto the dance floor.
