Times Square Hula dancing to mark Hawaii's 50th
NEW YORK - NEW YORK (AP) — There will be a whole lot of shakin' goin' on in Times Square as Hawaiian performers teach visitors and residents how to Hula dance to celebrate Hawaii's 50 years as a U.S. state.
Organizers say dancers dressed in traditional costumes are also expected to hand out necklaces made of flowers to the crowd. The festivities are expected to start on Friday at noon.
The birthplace of President Barack Obama became America's 50th state on August 21st, 1959.
