Over the next two decades she moved up through various executive ranks, particularly in the human resources area, often working closely with Al Weiss, Disney World's chief executive from 1994-'06. In 2002 she was appointed worldwide executive vice president for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts for human resources, though she remained based in Disney's Lake Buena Vista headquarters. After Weiss was promoted to president of that worldwide corporate division, Crofton was selected to be his successor at Disney World, becoming the resort's fourth chief executive, in Aug. 2006. She and her husband Richard Crofton, a real estate agent and retired airline pilot, live in Winter Park.
