Chicago resident Joan Cusack has appeared in dozens of films and television shows since she first came to national attention in the 1980 film "My Bodyguard." Born Oct. 11, 1962, she was attending Evanston Township High School when she won that role. She was picked out of the Piven Theater workshop based in Evanston, which her younger brother, the actor John Cusack, also attended. She has since appeared in the films "Nine Months," "Raising Helen," "Addams Family Values," "Ice Princess" and "Broadcast News." She was nominated twice for best supporting actress Oscars-in 1988 for "Working Girl" and 1997 for "In and Out." In 2007, Cusack and her husband, Chicago lawyer Richard Burke, sold their home in the Ravenswood area of Chicago for $4.66 million and paid $5.3 million for a six-bedroom, 8,000-square-foot-plus vintage mansion on the Gold Coast. Features in the renovated, 13-room mansion include six and a half baths, seven fireplaces, a great room, a de Giulio kitchen with a double oven and a master bath with a whirlpool. Other features include a library, an indoor swimming pool, Tiffany stained glass and an exercise room.
