ELIGIBILITY: Participants must be either (a) a high school senior who has been accepted and admitted into a college or university and plans to attend in the fall of 2008; or (b) an undergraduate college or broadcasting/journalism trade school student who is currently admitted and enrolled in a college or university at the time of entry. Applicants may enroll or be enrolled in any major as long as the career intent is in the field of broadcasting/journalism. Participants must be at least 13 years of age or older, a legal U.S. citizen, and reside in the KTXL broadcasting viewing area in the State of California. Employees (and their immediate household or family members) or Sponsor and its parent or affiliate companies, participating sponsors and advertising agencies, are not eligible to enter.

SELECTION OF WINNER: Sponsor will review all timely received, eligible applications and choose one applicant as the winner. Each application will be judged based on the student's interest in pursuing a career in the broadcasting/journalism field, a demonstrated commitment to either industry, along with how the candidate represents the value of community service. Each factor will be weighed equally. Winner will be notified by telephone or mail by or before Monday, May 30, 2008. If a winner decides not to attend college or a university and/or withdraws from the college or university prior to the start of the 2008 academic year, that winner will be disqualified and will be required to return the $2000 scholarship (unless such winner immediately enrolls in the subsequent semester or withdraws due to health reasons). If a selected winner is disqualified or becomes ineligible in accordance with these official rules, declines the prize, or cannot be reached within 7 days of the first notification, he or she will forfeit the prize and an alternate winner will be chosen using the same criteria.

AWARD: Winner will receive a scholarship for $2000 and one (1) Carl's Jr. "Burgers for a Year" card valued at $207.00. The $2000 scholarship money must be used for tuition or school expenses only; any other use is considered void (unless pre-approved by Sponsor). If the $2000 is used for any other unauthorized purpose, the Winner will be required to reimburse Sponsor for the entire $2000. Winner may be featured on-air on KTXL FOX40 or on its website www.FOX40.com. Carl's Jr. card is subject to all restrictions on the card and store policies. Award not transferable, renewable, substitutable, nor redeemable for cash. Winner must present valid photo identification to claim the Award.

By entering, each entrant agrees (a) to accept and abide by these rules and the decision of the judges; (b) to release KTXL FOX40 and Carl's Jr., and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, officers, shareholders, directors, employees, and agents from any claim, loss, liability, damage or injury of any kind arising from the entrant's participation in this scholarship contest and receipt or use of the award, and (c) to the use by KTXL FOX40 and its agents and licensees, to use the entrant's name, voice, photograph, likeness and biographical material for broadcast, online, and promotional purposes in connection with the scholarship program, without additional compensation. All entries become the property of KTXL, and KTXL shall retain all rights in materials produced in conjunction with the award program.
