Looking for a new place to eat in Lakeview? Check out these recommended spots.

Andalous Moroccan Restaurant. Carefully prepared Moroccan dishes with Spanish and Middle Eastern influences.

Chicago Diner. Imaginative, satisfying vegetarian cuisine, but sometimes indifferent service.

El Tapatio. Consistantly good, no-frills Tex-Mex, including stellar chiles rellenos and fajitas.

Firefly. This snazzy new French bistro focuses on wine and appetizers, including escargot, pomme frites and a chicken and brie sandwich.

Harmony Grill. The restaurant at Schuba's turns out respectable upscale diner food and a la carte brunch options.

La Creperie. At this cozy spot, crepes are filled with everything from beef bourguignonne to Nutella. The prix-fixe dinner (soup or salad, entree crepe and dessert crepe) is a bargain.

Las Tablas. This noisy Columbian eatery specializes in empanadas and juicy steaks topped with chimichurri and served with fried yuca and plantains.

Monsoon. Brand-new Asian-Indian fusion restaurant is finding its groove, but shows promise with dishes like herb-crusted lamb chops and lobster poached in ghee. Stellar desserts.

Orange. Breakfast and lunch spot attracts Trixies with goofy but good options like green eggs and ham (eggs scrambled with pesto and served with pancetta) and "frushi" (fruit sushi).

Pingpong. This affordable pan-Asian spot caters to young trendies with modern, minimalist decor and pulsating music.

Platiyo. Frontera Grill-quality food at burrito stand prices? Well, not quite, but at this brand-new Lakeview spot, vibrant Mexican fare, including braised pork shoulder with guajillo chiles and cremini mushrooms, comes in at under $12.

Twist. Top-notch tapas spot offers old standbys (bleu cheese-crusted beef tenderloin, garlic shrimp), plus small pizzas, jalapeno gnocchi and Moroccan dishes.
