Umenyiora has thigh injury, but probable for game

PHOENIX - Osi Umenyiora joined Plaxico Burress on Friday's injury report, which suddenly has the look of a Giants Pro Bowl ballot.

Umenyiora, the only Giant selected to the Pro Bowl, missed practice Friday with an unspecified thigh injury, though he's listed as probable for Super Bowl XLII.

Umenyiora has been healthy all season long, not even missing any time when he suffered what appeared to be a serious knee injury in the season opener against the Cowboys.

Guard Rich Seubert (knee) and cornerback Kevin Dockery (hip) both practiced fully and are listed as probable.

Full complement of CBs

With Dockery healthy for the first time since the Bucs game and Sam Madison back to full health, Tom Coughlin has all five of his cornerbacks available for Sunday.

Corey Webster and R.W. McQuarters usually were the odd men out through the bulk of the regular season, when Dockery, Madison and Aaron Ross were the top three corners. But Webster and McQuarters have totaled five interceptions in three playoff wins, so Coughlin has some difficult choices.

"You're working these guys [Dockery and Madison] back in, but you have to make sure everyone gets enough reps," Coughlin said. "You have to make sure they can all contribute."

Ross will be the slot corner in the nickel and McQuarters almost certainly will be the fourth corner in the dime. It would appear that Webster and Madison will start, with Dockery on hand for special teams and insurance purposes defensively.

Hands off Vince's trophy

Coughlin decided to pick up his team's helmet and hold it when posing for photos after his final news conference. Some coaches have been known to lift up the Lombardi Trophy, but Coughlin declined.
