Ellyn Bogdanoff is a leader in the Florida House of Representatives. As a member of the Republican Party, she's part of the majority that controls the agenda in the Florida House of Representatives. Ellyn Bogdanoff is the majority whip, which means she's responsible for communicating policy positions to rank-and-file members of the Florida House. Ellyn Bogdanoff also is involved in key issues, especially the kind of coverage automobile drivers in Florida should be required to drive. With her re-election in 2006, Ellyn Bogdanoff became the highest-ranking Republican elected official living in Broward County, Florida, which is the state's main Democratic bastion. During the 2006 election, other Broward County Republicans at the county, state and federal level were defeated. Ellyn Bogdanoff is known as a tough political player. She likens politics to tennis, saying it pays to be aggressive. Ellyn Bogdanoff represents District 91 in the Florida House of Representatives, stretching from Dania Beach to Boca Raton. Before entering the Florida House, Bogdanoff was an independent insurance agent for 16 years. She had been active in the Broward County public schools, which her children attended. Ellyn Bogdanoff ran for School Board in 1996, but lost. She later ran for the Florida Senate, and lost again. Ellyn Bogdanoff, who has a bachelor's degree from the University of Flordia in insurance and risk management, earned her law degree from Nova Southeastern University in May 2003. On Jan. 27, 2004, she ran for the Florida House in a special election, winning by 12 votes. She was re-elected in November 2004 and November 2006. Ellyn Setnor Bogdanoff lives in Fort Lauderdale. She was born Oct. 17, 1959, in North Miami, Florida.
