Lieberman ultimately kept his seat by running as an Independent, but Lamont¿s candidacy underscored the state¿s great dissatisfaction with the Iraq war and Lieberman¿s support of it. Lamont had relatively little experience in public office, but was able to use his great personal wealth to jump start his candidacy. Lamont founded a company named Lamont Digital Systems in 1984, providing college campuses around the country with educational cable television services. The firm is now called Campus Televideo. Lamont spent eight years in Greenwich local government, chaired a state investment advisory council and has served as a policy member at the Brookings Institution. Lamont is a graduate of both Harvard and the Yale School of Management.
