Terry Francona is the Major League Baseball manager of the Boston Red Sox. Since he has taken over the club, the Red Sox have won 279 games, the 3rd most in the team's history for a manager's first 3 seasons. On Feb. 28, 2008, Francona's contract was extended until the end of the 2011 season. Prior to joining the Red Sox, Francona was a bench coach for the Oakland Athletics and the Texas Rangers. He was also the manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. Before Francona made a career as a coach, he played 12 professional baseball seasons from 1980-91. He and his wife Jacque live in Boston and have four children together.
