Highlights

Maurice Jones-Drew is a second-year running back and kick returner for the NFL¿s Jacksonville Jaguars. At 5 feet 7, he is also one of the league¿s shortest runners, but he is a big story for the Jags.
The Jaguars selected Jones-Drew in the second round of the 2006 draft, 60th overall, primarily to return kicks and punts. But his big-play ability at the line of scrimmage has made him more valuable there. He led the team in touchdowns (15) as a rookie and finished with a per-carry rushing average of 5.7 yards, tops in the league and the best in team history. He was third in the NFL in all-purpose yards and had six touchdown plays of 10 yards or longer, something only one other NFL pla...

Among other things, including having a number of nicknames, Jones-Drew is regarded as the man who wears a Superman shirt underneath his uniform and pads on game days. He¿s not a man of steel, but he has infused Jacksonville¿s team with personality and exciting play. At UCLA, where he was known as Maurice Drew, he had Jones-Drew stitched onto the back of his jersey to honor a beloved grandfather who had a heart attack in the stands while watching him play (and later died).
Jones-Drew started 22 of 36 games at UCLA and ran for 2,503 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns. He also set Pac-10 and NCAA records for single-season punt returns, average 28.5 yards 15 returns. He entered the NFL draft after his junior season, honoring the wish of his late grandfather. Jones-Drew grew up in Antioch, Calif., and is part of a long winning tradition at De La Salle High. He had a hand in the De La Salle¿s 138-game winning streak.
