Highlights

The history of this area dates back 6,000 years when Native Americans used and visited the springs here. In the early 1800s, sugar and cotton plantations were built by settlers but they later were sacked by the Seminole Indians during the Second Seminole War. Now, there is a swimming area and picnic grounds as well as walking trails. Canoes, kayaks and paddleboats can be rented and taken on the spring run, which flows into the Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge. Near the swimming area is the Old Spanish Sugar Mill Restaurant, where you can make your own pancakes on griddles built into the table.
