Destiny's Child Singer Rowland Not With Child
Musician denies international rumors of pregnancy
Kelly Rowland
Well, what do you know? The tabloids were wrong: Kelly Rowland isn't pregnant after all.
In a statement released on Monday (July 31), the singer's representatives denied the recent speculation that the Destiny's Child singer and actress is expecting.
"Contrary to rumors appearing online and in the tabloids, Kelly Rowland, of Destiny's Child, is not pregnant," reads the statement. "Statements attributed to Kelly regarding her alleged pregnancy were never made by the artist and a purported interview with the AMG never took place."
The rumors began when online posts signed "Keith Slogan -- AMG (amgmusic.com)" reported that Rowland allegedly revealed, "[My pregnancy] was definitely a surprise! Its kind of a bitter-sweet feeling because I was planning to release an album next year." British tabloids quickly picked up the story, reporting that the baby daddy's identity had yet to be revealed.
With a couple seconds of research, it was revealed that the AMG website referred to in the posts only lists links and ads.
The official statement also points out that Rowland is concentrating on her music: "Kelly is hard at work on her career and looking forward to the upcoming release of her second solo album, 'My Story ... Kelly Rowland.'"
Rowland, 25, will next support Solange Knowles-Smith, sister of Destiny's Child member Beyonce Knowles, at the Wednesday, Aug. 2 premiere of the DVD release "Bring It On: All or Nothing" in Houston, Texas. Rowland herself has also crossed into the acting field and starred in 2003's horror franchise crossover "Freddy vs. Jason" opposite Jason Ritter and Monica Keena. She's also appeared on the small screen, making guest appearances on "The Hughleys," "American Dreams" and "Girlfriends."
Rowland was engaged to marry Dallas Cowboys player Roy Williams, but broke it off in 2005 claiming they were too young to wed.
