Nicole Kidman in 'The Invasion'

Nicole Kidman was briefly hospitalized early Thursday (Jan. 25) morning after a car accident on the set of her upcoming thriller "The Invasion."

"Entertainment Tonight" and "Extra!" are reporting that Kidman was behind the wheel of a Jaguar being towed by a camera rig. The stunt driver towing the car lost control going around a corner and crashed into a light post.

The scene featured Kidman and a co-star fleeing from alien-infested zombies (or something of the ilk) and eight individuals were taken to Cedars-Sinai Media Center for examination. Kidman was reportedly released within two hours, though no additional details have been provided on whether any minor injuries were sustained.

Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, "The Invasion" was originally conceived of as a remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," though the script is said to have diverged from the source material. Daniel Craig and Jeremy Northam star in the film, currently set for release on Aug. 17.
