On March 28, 2010, Andres Martinez underwent a laparoscopic appendectomy, during which an artery was perforated. There was surgical intervention, but Martinez developed a complication and died on March 29, 2010. A fatality inquiry looking into his death is scheduled to begin Monday, May 28, 2012.
