LE MANS, FRANCE - MAY 19: (L) Cal Crutchlow of Great Britain and Monster Yamaha Tech 3 and Marc Marquez of Spain and Repsol Honda Team celebrate under the podium at the end of the MotoGP of France on May 19, 2013 in Le Mans, France.
Herve said I had the option to sign a two-year deal with him. But if he hasn't signed a contact with the manufacturer [for 2014] then what do I do? ... He can put me in Moto2 for the second year... So I think it was correct that I only signed for one year.
I do not know the depth of those conversations; whether something has been agreed, is almost agreed or whether there is still a lot to sort out ... What I do know is that Yamaha has four bikes and, when Cal Crutchlow is the only rider who is contracted only for this year, some think Espargaro could take his place. I love Cal and will be keeping him informed of what I know, simply to allow him as much time as possible to remain attractive on the rider market - whether that will be to stay at Yamaha or to go somewhere else.
I'm happy to have got through so much work today and do almost 70 laps because my back is still quite sore from the two big crashes I had on SaturdayMore quotes »
