Other than Minnie Pearl, Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball there were no other funny females until the Laugh-In TV show and that was mostly shtick I really never had a role model for musical comedy. Growing up, I never thought of comedy as a career path, not until my mid-30s, and then it was still quite a surprise.
