Sead Makalic, 53, poses with his cellphone and a picture of German girl Bettina Siegner in the northwestern Tuzla region village of Karavlasi on May 27, 2012. Bettina, a 19-year-old German girl has been rescued on May 17 by Bosnian police after allegedly being held captive by Milenko and Slavojka Marinkovic for eight years during which she was forced to eat pig feed and pull a horse-cart. The Marinkovics were arrested in their home on May 17 after police received the tip-off from their neighbour, Makalic , earlier this month. Local media reported that the girl had arrived in Bosnia from Germany eight years ago with her mother, who could have entered into a sham marriage with Milenko Marinkovic to allow him to obtain a German residency permit.
