Israel Gaza Crisis
Israeli troops monitor the Israel-Gaza border following an exchange of fire between Palestinian militants and Israeli troops on June 1, 2012. An Israeli soldier and a Palestinian militant were killed in the incident which the army statement said took place after the latter infiltrated into Israel and opened fire at soldiers posted in an exclusion zone just inside the Gaza border that is off-limits to Palestinians, where Israeli troops regularly carry out military activity in the area.
