SAN FRANCISCO, CA - JUNE 18: Jeremy Affeldt #41 of the San Francisco Giants rubs his head after he gave up a double to Chase Headley #7 of the San Diego Padres in the eighth inning at AT&T Park on June 18, 2013 in San Francisco, California. Headley's double followed a two-run home run by Jesus Guzman #15 of the San Diego Padres.
That ball's not big, so for that ball to hit me right there, the percentage of chance of that happening to me is not worth doing all the headgear ... Unless you have to, I'm for that. That's just your livelihood, I'm not going to die. I'm not going to do it.
Finding guys like that is a needle-in-the-haystack type of thing ... Even if you throw hard, you still have to have the confidence and the boldness to throw to big league hitters with command. That's what's impressive with those guys. I think Harvey might be ahead of Miller with fastball command and mixing it up, but Miller's got a really good fastball. It's explosive.
It was a dumb pitch - dumb location, dumb selection, stupid ... I didn't want to throw it there. For a strike pitch it wasn't that bad, but that is not what I am trying to do to him. He is too hot of hitter and when you make dumb pitches and you throw to a dumb location they are going to make you look bad. I take full responsibility. The loss is on me. Cain threw really well. He didn't deserve that. It is completely my fault.More quotes »
